Over the past two years, exploring the procurement and finance side of SaaS management has granted immense insight into how IT, procurement, and finance teams — individually and collaboratively — manage SaaS portfolios.

It’s crystal clear that while procurement and finance play crucial roles, IT remains the foundational owner of SaaS strategy and execution. They are ultimately responsible for ensuring security, driving adoption, and delivering value from their software investments. 

While leading organizations are adopting SaaS Management Platforms, a majority of IT teams are still wrestling with spreadsheets to gain visibility and manage their SaaS portfolio. 

These new product improvements put IT teams back in the driver’s seat. Their launch marks the  beginning of a broader vision where we’ll be building out a true SaaS management operating system. With IT at the center of this system, procurement and finance are all empowered to work harmoniously, each with the specialized tools and insights they need to excel in their roles.

What’s new

Giving IT unparalleled visibility

We review our application connectors each quarter to ensure IT leaders have the most reliable data inside Productiv. This quarter we revisited and updated 7 applications to ensure we’re providing the most comprehensive and accurate data possible. Our enhanced connectors now deliver deeper activity insights, giving IT leaders the complete picture they need to set their SaaS strategy.

JAMF and Kandji MDM connectors are now also available to ensure Productiv customers can detect shadow IT on employee devices. 

Qualitative insights through surveys

App usage numbers tell part of the story, but qualitative feedback like employee sentiment completes it. Our App Surveys allows IT teams to automate sending out application surveys, and then Sidekick summarizes the unstructured survey data so it’s easy to factor it into renewal decisions. 

Employee surveys are particularly valuable for applications without public APIs or when usage metrics alone don’t tell the full story. High activity in an app might indicate necessity rather than satisfaction – now you can know the difference.

Automated app discovery workflows

Shadow IT is a persistent challenge for IT teams. New App Discovery Workflows automate the IT review of recently discovered applications. 

This isn’t just about finding shadow IT. It’s about having the tools to automate identifying and then dispositioning shadow IT properly. The feature streamlines what has traditionally been a manual, time-consuming process, allowing IT teams to focus on strategic initiatives rather than chasing down unauthorized apps.
